Mary Poppins was fun!
The show was thought to be quite beautifully executed, fun, and well staged. The two leads were perfect in their parts, and the children performed very well. As a Brit, I usually critique British accents done by Americans. Most other theatre goers there wouldn't have cared about that, though. Mrs Banks, however, overdid the upper-class accent to such an extent that it was silly and didn't sound authentic. Any English person would know she wasn't native. Yet, the young children in the audience obviously thought it was a lot of fun. It was a lighthearted end to our rather serious stay in NY after struggling through the terrible rainstorm to get there. A good dose of "sugar... to help the medicine go down"!
